Prototype Design

Generation 0 Prototype

Goals of Redesign:
1. Improve compactness/ease of folding
2. Prevent tripping on small bumps.
3. Improve shock absorbance.

Features

Flexible Tireless Wheels have been used to replace the traditional rubber casters used on walkers. The flexible material and honeycomb structure allow users to roll over door frames, rugs, and other small transitions without lifting or worrying about tripping. Due to them being tireless, there is still no need to worry about wheels deflating and needing replacement.

Centerfold Mechanism folds the walker down the middle so that it takes up 15% less space than traditional walkers when folded. In addition, the walker can be folded one handedly and the other hand on the walker for support unlike traditional walkers which require using both hands to push unlocking buttons. Reports from users indicated those buttons got stuck which added to folding difficulties.
